Melody Howlett developed RespectED from her enthusiasm and commitment toward providing sex-positive, friendly and practical relationships education which answers the nitty-gritty logistical questions that parents and young people alike often ask.
All workshops are facilitated by Melody Howlett. Melody has a Masters in Social Work (graduating 2020) and a background in psychology and gender studies, with a major focus on relationships science, social and developmental psychology, diversity inclusion and women’s rights. She has specialist knowledge in intersectional feminism, gender equality, violence prevention, diversity, sexual health, respectful relationships and Gottman relationship therapy. She brings proven advocacy, group facilitation and public speaking expertise developed through professional positions in health, community and education. Melody has lived experience of child sexual abuse and sexual violence and is a passionate education advocate with experience working with diverse cultures and situations in which cultural awareness and appreciation are integral.
All RespectED workshops and trainings are evidence-based, utilising relationship science principles, understanding of child and adolescent developmental needs, violence prevention best practice interventions, and are inclusive of differing social and emotional skill sets and cultural needs. Melody herself, is an autistic woman with a strong interest in supporting individuals and couples to better relate to, understand and communicate with one another. When Melody is not teaching, she works with couples to provide relationship support and build interpersonal understanding utilising the evidence-based Gottman method.
